Drop for Non-Payment - Frequently Asked Questions

Due to FAFSA delays, SBCC has suspended the drop-for-non-payment process for Fall 2024 registration for students classified under the following residency statuses:

  • CA residents
  • Out-of-state students who pay Non-Resident tuition

The drop for nonpayment system is still active for Summer 2024; students have 7 days to pay their balance to avoid being dropped for nonpayment.

If you register for both Summer 2024 & Fall 2024 terms then you have to pay both terms.

If you're awaiting financial aid, you can delay payment for Fall 2024. However, since the online system requires full payment, consider dropping Fall 2024 classes, paying the Summer 2024 balance, and re-adding Fall 2024 classes if space permits.

Due to FAFSA delays, SBCC has suspended the drop for non-payment process for all CA residents and all out-of-state students who pay non-resident tuition for FALL 2024 registration.

The deadline to pay classes is always 7 days after registration, but if you're waiting for financial aid and can't make the payment by then, you won't be dropped. However, if the balance remains unpaid by the end of October, a hold will be placed on your account, restricting future registration, access to grades, diplomas, and graduation. Failure to pay after 14 months may result in being sent to collections.
